The Department of Computer Science at Virginia Tech offers a dynamic graduate program and is a major producer of graduates at the master's and doctoral levels. We offer funding opportunities to research-track students. Our growing list of active research areas provides opportunities for students to concentrate their research and study to their interests and to do pioneering work at the intersection of multiple disciplines.

Virginia Tech has more than 800 student organizations on campus that offer social, cultural, and professional development and rich experiences for everyone. Several student chapters of engineering and computer science-related organizations are also active, including the Association for Women in ComputingCS-Squared, ColorStack@VTCyber Security Club, and many others.

The CS Grad Council represents the interests of the graduate student body both inside and outside the department, organizes social events among graduate students, and helps incoming students become familiar with departmental procedures and activities.

Note: In all official Virginia Tech Graduate School documentation, our graduate degree is referred to as Computer Science & Applications (CSA).
